The Hajj Journey
Scroll through the seven stations of the pilgrimage — one story, one step at a time.
Station 1 of 7
Ihram
Everyone puts on simple white clothes — no rich or poor, everyone looks the same.
At the Miqat boundary, pilgrims enter the sacred state of ihram before Makkah.
Station 2 of 7
Tawaf
Pilgrims walk around the Kaaba seven times, all together like one big circle.
Tawaf: seven counter-clockwise circuits of the Kaaba, Islam's holiest site.
Station 3 of 7
Sa'i
Then everyone walks briskly between two little hills, seven times each way.
Sa'i between Safa and Marwah re-enacts Hajar's search for water for her son Ismail.
Station 4 of 7
Arafat
On the Day of Arafat, everyone stands together and prays — this is the heart of Hajj.
Standing (wuquf) at Arafat is considered the single most essential rite of Hajj.
Station 5 of 7
Muzdalifah
That night, pilgrims sleep under the open sky and collect little pebbles.
Pilgrims gather at Muzdalifah overnight, collecting pebbles for the next day.
Station 6 of 7
Jamarat
They throw their pebbles at three pillars — a symbol of saying no to bad choices.
Stoning the Jamarat symbolically rejects the whispers of Shaytan, as Ibrahim did.
Station 7 of 7
Tawaf al-Wida
Before heading home, pilgrims circle the Kaaba one last time to say goodbye.
The Farewell Tawaf is the final rite before pilgrims begin their journey home.
